Gas Network Services Limited (GNSL) is Axxela’s pioneer foray into the compressed natural gas (CNG) virtual pipeline business and presently operates a 5.2MMSCFD CNG Mother Station in Lagos, Nigeria. Natural gas is compressed into mobile tube trailers for onward delivery to customers’ locations. The facility, which began operations in 2013, has dispensing points for filling Natural Gas Vehicles (NGV) utilising CNG as a primary or alternate fuel.
GNSL utilises state of the art 95mscf/hr compressors supplied by FornovoGas, Italy, and delivers CNG at 250 barg into specialised tube trailers for onward delivery to customers beyond the pipeline gas areas – stranded customers. The facility currently delivers CNG to customers within a 250km radius of the Mother Station.
Customers from inception include Nigeria Breweries PLC, Ibadan, Chi Limited, Rite Foods Limited, Island Power Limited, Peninsular IPP, Goodwill Ceramics Limited, Crown Ceramics Limited, Apple and Pears Limited. Strategic and technical partners include OPEX Limited, Transport Services Limited, FornovoGas, and Clean Energy Compression (IMW) Canada.
The plant is 100% energy sufficient due to the gas advantage and does not depend on the national grid for power. Compressed natural gas from GNSL is clean and devoid of moisture due to the meticulous care that is taken in drying and scrubbing of the supplied natural gas through our dryer systems. The activities at the facility have positive environmental impact via a reduction in levels of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere.
